Swasthya Mitra is an attempt by Medica to reach preventive healthcare to homes of people unable to come to hospitals for regular check-ups.
A batch of young people, trained by the hospital in checking and monitoring some basic health parameters like Blood pressure, blood sugar, height, weight and pulse rate, will visit homes in the locality to provide our senior citizens with Medical health
Medica Jamshedpur (Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital) in August 2014 inaugurated Project JARMA – a collaborative effort of the Jharkhand Police Department, Tata Steel and Medica Group aiming to provide basic trauma life support at the site of an accident scene and to transport the patient to the nearest appropriate hospital. This endeavor is similar to the K.A.R.M.A project that was established by Medica in Kolkata on 6th March 2012 which has saved close to 6000 lives so far. A unique healthcare delivery model that takes healthcare out from the hospital to the streets, to people who require it the most, Project KARMA was won various accolades and recognition for the same and is now set to offer similar services to the steel city.
JARMA, which stands for ‘Jamshedpur Accident Response and Medical Assistance’ was inaugurated on 31st August 2014 by DGP Mr. Rajeev Kumar, MD Tata Steel Mr. T.V.Narendran, Chairman Medica Dr. Alok Roy. Senior police officials Mr. Anurag Gupta IGP . Mr. M.S. Bhatia Zonal IGP, DIG range . SSP Jamshedpur , City SP Jamshedpur and Director Health Services Mr. Sumant Mishra and other prominent citizens of the city were also present during the occasion.
DGP Mr. Kumar and MD Tata steel Mr. Narendran both lauded Medica for its project KARMA and expressed their faith in JARMA . They wished the hospital luck and assured all possible help for making this project a success in Jamshedpur. They also expressed their willingness to be a part of a similar project for Ranchi.
Dr. Alok Roy appreciated the support extended by Jharkhand Police (6 ambulances, drivers, fuel and one police personal in each ambulance) and Tata for funding the project . On behalf of Medica he promised to extend the necessary infrastructure and facilities required for this project. He expressed his full faith in Medica team for delivering the best.
The programme concluded with the flagging off of the JARMA ambulances.
