Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital was set up by Kantilal Gandhi as a charitable Eye Hospital with financial backing from the Government and other organisations. With the passage of time, keeping the needs of the local citizens in mind, Gynaecology was added on as a specialty, along with general Surgery, and the hospital came to be known as an Eye and Women & Child Hospital. Tata Steel took over the operations in 1997, and in a bid to establish KGMH as a multispecialty hospital providing world class healthcare, tied-up with Medica Hospitals in 2012.
